Saylor has been doing swimming lessons for the past 2 weeks! We're so proud of her because she's WAY scared of the water. This is what she spends most of her time doing...
And this is what Beckam spends most of his time doing...
She started out glued to those steps but has since found her courage! This is a little funny, Saylor has this knack for stealing the power from authority figures. The lessons start out with the teacher telling them what to do: blow bubbles with your mouth, listen to the fishies, hum a song with your nose in the water, get your eyes wet, etc. Saylor is nervous to do 75% of those things so she slowly takes over the lessons by suggesting things she's comfortable doing. Before you know it the teacher is saying "Okay, Saylor, now what should we do?". It's amazing. She should probably run for president. Anyway, she has warmed up to the whole idea of getting her face near the water (she went under up to her eyebrows!!...once) so I'd call it a success!
We took Saylor and Beckam to their first movie! We saw Monsters vs. Aliens at the Kaysville theater. Saylor loved it for about an hour, and Beckam was happy as long as I was shoving popcorn in his mouth. We ended up leaving half way through, which was fine because tickets were like $2 each. That's the way to go with kids, I've decided. We had lots of fun!
Saylor and Adam made a birdhouse! Adam built it and Saylor painted it! She's so crafty and especially loves to paint. She paints with water color (she's into painting flowers right now), she paints little ceramic figurines, she loves it all and I'm running out of ideas for her!
We love trying new restaurants and we found a keeper! Santa Monica Pizza and Pasta Company in Syracuse is soooooo good. Check out that cheese. Yum.
Beckam adores Saylor and wants to be doing whatever she is doing. Lately he's into coloring with her (mostly he just dumps out that big box of crayons pictured below. I probably pick them up and put them away at least 5 times a day). I had to get a picture of him being her little shadow because it's so cute! Unfortunately, he also copies the negative behavior and has really taken to yelling "NO!" But he does it with his sweet little dimpled smile so it's hard to get mad at. He's learning young.
